AUGUST ANTLER UPDATE
Boone is just about done growing now. He did start to grow a few abnormal points, but none of them are going to be very long. His spread is 19" and his beam length is 22".
The pictures did not come out very well, I'll try to get some better ones later.

JUNE ANTLER UPDATE
As you can see now Boone's G3 and G4s are starting to grow. His main beams are about 18 inches long. He still has a lot of growing to do,but it looks like he is going to be just a 10 pointer like he was last year.
My yearling is starting to grow a little bit now. You just never know about these little guys.
By next month we should have a real good idea what Boone's final score should be.

JUNE ANTLER UPDATE
As you can see Boones antlers have grown about 6 inches more in length and he also has started to grow his g2s. His antlers are now about 13 inches long. His spread is also looking pretty good too. My yearling bucks are starting to grow now and so far they are not looking too bad. June seems to be a rapid growth month so check back next month, I'm sure you'll be amazed.

TAXIDERMY
I have been doing taxidermy for about 3o years now. I thought I would show you a picture of some of my recent work. The buck I shot with my bow in Nov of 07. He scored 150!! not to bad. The doe is one I was able to harvest while my son was in the stand with me. He was 5 at the time. I don't mount too many does, but he wanted me to put her on the wall since it was our first deer together. I knew I had made a good hit on her and where she went, but I told Hunter (my son) to go in front of me and see if he could find her. It's pretty cool to have you my 5 year old son with me and have him follow the blood trail and find the deer. Ok got to go shed hunting now I'll show pictures of what I find next time....

Antler Development
I'm posting another picture of my buck. He is a 5 year old,not a monster, but a decent buck.I thought that I would take a picture of him on the first of every month so that everyone can see how a bucks antlers develop. This is a pretty exciting time of year for me. It's always interesting to watch how fast they grow. I also have a couple of fawn bucks that will be growing their first racks so I'll show you those too. Good luck with your shed hunting.

Shed season has begun!!
Hello everyone. I have to admit this is my very first attempt at blogging, but being an avid (or should I say an obsessed) bow hunter this is a very boring time of year for me. So I decided to give this a whirl. I'm also a deerfarmer. I only have a few deer and I've got to say they are truly a fascinating animal to raise. One great advantage of having a buck just outside your door is knowing when its time to go shed hunting. My buck just shed his antlers yesterday (2/07/09) Now I know bucks shed their antlers at different times, but now I know that at least its possible that there are some to be found. I would love to hear from you and will post pictures of any big sheds I find and would like to see your pics too. Anyone that has any tips on how to find sheds, I'm all ears. Thanks, and happy hunting
